In this second original story app from Nosy Crow Apps based on Benji Davies’ board book series, Bizzy visits the building site. Join him as he dons his hard hat and helps to build a house. Enjoy the big machines as you dig, lift and shift to your heart’s content.
First, help Bizzy to dig a huge hole with the big digger or help the crane driver to shift materials. Then operate the bulldozer to pile up the sand ready to mix concrete before reversing the dumper truck full of gravel, taking care to avoid the workman drinking his tea.
At the site of the house itself, a musical chorus is in progress as the hammer, saw and mortar provide a percussion accompaniment to the background music. Make your own contribution to the rhythm band using the concrete mixer, digger engine and both flushing toilets. Next, be careful with the load lifter as you lower bricks into the wheelbarrow. Then, after helping with the finishing touches, it’s time to hand back the hard hat and head home.
The app is very easy to use. Page navigation arrows are dimmed so have to be tapped twice to activate, thus preventing accidental page turns. There are two reading modes, Read and Play (words are highlighted and the narration uses child voices) or Read by Myself. The latter offers the facility to set the length of time that text appears on the screen to match the reading skill of a learner. Additional dialogue can be triggered by tapping each character and blue dots advise the reader of possible interactions. Characters can be made to jump and turn.
The Bizzy Bear song makes a return in this app and should, by now, be a firm favourite. There is so much to find and explore that it should keep curious toddlers busy for hours as they learn through exploratory play.
